There are four signatories:

  1. Printing Industries of America, Inc.
  2. Screenprinting & Graphic Imaging Association International
  3. Flexographic Technical Association
  4. Envelope Manufacturers Association

The Printing Alliance, with four trade associations in the printing industry, focuses on ergonomics, with major emphasis on guidelines under development by the allies. The Alliance will develop and deliver training and education programs on ergonomics and also focuses on outreach and communication goals, including:

  • Jointly developing and disseminating information at conferences, events, and print and electronic media
  • Promoting the effectiveness of ergonomic programs
  • Cross-training OSHA and industry personnel on ergonomic best practices in the industry
  • Promoting OSHAís cooperative programs within the industry

The Alliance also focuses on promoting the national dialogue on workplace safety and health by:

  • Encouraging member companies and worksites to act as industry liaisons for OSHA
  • Developing and sharing ergonomic best practices throughout the industry
  • Encouraging wide implementation of hazard recognition strategies and analytical tools, as well as sharing data supporting these approaches
  • Forging solutions to ergonomic problems by convening or participating in forums and round table discussions

  • January 8, 2003: 2003 OSHA Update, Gary Jones, Manager Environmental, Health, and Safety Affairs for Graphic Arts Technical Foundation/Printing Industries of America. Mr Jones gave a presentation at the Newspaper Association of America's Annual Technical Committee Meeting. The presentation focused on current and future EPA and OSHA activities affecting newspapers. Among the topics covered was a review of the OSHA-Printing Industry Alliance on ergonomics. The other OSHA-related topics covered included OSHA's reorganization, common OSHA violations, injury and illness recordkeeping, changes to existing rules, and newly proposed rules.
  • September 25, 2002:Jim Kyger, Director, Federal Employment Compliance Assistance, Printing Industries of America, Inc. Mr. Kyger addressed the OSHA Compliance Assistance Conference about his association's experience in collaborating with OSHA in an Alliance with three other printing associations.
